Frary of Aylsham Longcase Clock
A very interesting Norfolk Longcase clock, because this is a dead right original clock which has an error from 1790 when it was made.
Aylsham is in Norfolk where as Aylesham is in Kent & as Frary was a clockmaker from Aylsham in Norfolk means that when this dial was painted in Birmingham the mistake was made there & then, It would be easy to get it changed but as it has never ever been touched it is nice (in my opinion) to leave it as it is and was made. Lets get to the clock…
A typical Norfolk slim Oak case with “whales tail” crest and a long trunk door.
The untouched first period dial being a “strawberry” type is very well painted as they were & has date & seconds.
The 8 day duration movement strikes the hours on its bell.
stands 87″ tall.
